SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 322
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators for
its advocacy on behalf of citizens' rights to high-quality health
care, including prescription medications; and
WHEREAS, Research currently underway promises the
availability of new medicines that can treat a host of illnesses
and conditions, including asthma, stroke, and different forms of
cancer; in addition, research to improve medicines used to treat
children is in progress; and
WHEREAS, The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators
has a special commitment to advocating on behalf of Hispanic
Americans, who have a high incidence of diabetes, strokes, and
heart attacks, as well as limited access to high-quality health
care; the caucus supports efforts to improve the range of
medicines and medical treatments available to these patients;
and
WHEREAS, The caucus also recognizes and supports the
central role of a patient's health care provider in the selection
of medicines and other medical treatment options; through its
actions, the caucus reflects genuine dedication to the health
care needs faced by many residents of the state and nation; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend the National Hispanic Caucus
of State Legislators for its valuable leadership in the field of
health care; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this notable organization as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
