SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 327
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Betty Hope and Leo Stroman on the special occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, Leo Stroman and Betty Hope Griffith made a lifetime commitment to each other when they married on November 29, 1952, and their mutual trust has been amply rewarded; and WHEREAS, Betty Hope Stroman was born May 15, 1933, in Corpus Christi, and Leo Stroman was born August 19, 1931, in Winnsboro; they met at a pool party and began dating when they were both attending Corpus Christi High School; and WHEREAS, Leo served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts; the couple remained in contact through letters while Leo was in Korea, and when he returned, he asked Betty to marry him; and WHEREAS, Leo earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Texas A&I University in Kingsville and had a successful career as a school teacher and a coach in Rockdale; Betty attended Texas Women's College while Leo was in Korea, and she too became a school teacher; after living in Rockdale for many years, the couple now lives in Wimberly; Leo is an avid reader, and Betty enjoys gardening and sewing; and WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Stroman have cherished traditional family and moral values; and WHEREAS, They have been blessed with a wonderful family; their children and their spouses, Linda and Don Wilson, Timothy Martin and Kathy Stroman, and William Keith and Kay Stroman, and their six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren have been a source of much pride and joy; and WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Leo and Betty Stroman is truly an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby join the family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Stroman in extending to them best wishes and congratulations on their golden wedding anniversary; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in their lives.
