SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 331
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Saint Agnes Church in Houston on the grand occasion of
its 36th anniversary, which is being celebrated on March 11 and
March 16, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Saint Agnes Church began as a vision of
Reverend Gene A. Moore, Sr., who became its first pastor when the
church was officially organized at the home of Brother and Sister
Malcolm Williams on March 15, 1967, with 18 members present; and
WHEREAS, Under the guidance and wise stewardship of
Bishop Moore, the church has continued to grow and to undertake
many worthy projects in the community; the Saint Agnes Christian
Academy has been operating for more than 20 years, and the
seminary, the Gregoreo School, is located in the Saint Agnes
Pearland Church; and
WHEREAS, Saint Agnes Church moved to its latest meeting
facility, the March of Faith Worship Center Dome in 1996; the
facility has the seating capacity for over 4,000 people; and
WHEREAS, Saint Agnes Church has become an invaluable source
of strength for its members during their hardships and in times of
bereavement; and
WHEREAS, The celebration of its 36th anniversary is an
expression of the church's enduring commitment to its holy mission
and its dedication to tradition and unity among Christians; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and
members of Saint Agnes Church on the jubilant occasion of its
36th anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
