SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 336

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased 
to recognize Sylvia Bolling, who has been honored by the 
Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County during Black 
History Month for her outstanding contributions to the Houston 
region; and
	WHEREAS, Sylvia Bolling began a personal crusade 
ten years ago to engage young people in the Aldine area in 
positive and nurturing activities, including after-school 
programs and visits to the library; and
	WHEREAS, Her vision for enriching the lives of these 
deserving young Texans led her to establish the Aldine Youth 
Community Center, where she serves as executive director; and
	WHEREAS, The center offers counseling, parent education, 
General Educational Development classes, English as a Second 
Language classes, and a food pantry; and
	WHEREAS, Sylvia has played a major role in the betterment 
of the Aldine neighborhood and has earned such accolades as the 
American Institute for Public Service's Jefferson Award and the 
Warner Cable Hometown Hero Award in recognition of her leadership 
and contributions to the community; and
	WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Sylvia Bolling is a source 
of strength to others, and she deserves recognition for her hard 
work and many accomplishments on behalf of the young people of 
Aldine; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, hereby commend Sylvia Bolling on her 
selection as an honoree of the Metropolitan Transit Authority 
of Harris County and extend best wishes to her for the future; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
