SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 341

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Bishop James Edward Lee for his outstanding leadership 
of the Texas East Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Church of God in 
Christ, Incorporated; and
	WHEREAS, Bishop Lee has dedicated his life to serving his 
church and the public; and
	WHEREAS, An inspiring spiritual leader, Bishop Lee has 
devoted his time and energy unselfishly to the two churches 
where he is pastor and to his work as the presiding prelate of his 
denomination; and
	WHEREAS, He has been especially dedicated to working with 
young people, and has helped to educate thousands of youths by 
establishing the Scholarship Fund for the entire Church of God 
in Christ; and
	WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, Bishop Lee 
has prayed for and counseled his church members during their 
hardships and in times of bereavement, and his guidance has 
brought enlightenment and hope to many; and
	WHEREAS, In recognition of Bishop Lee's exemplary 
work and leadership, the ministers and workers of the Texas 
East Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ, 
Incorporated, will honor him during their annual convention 
in Fort Worth, which will take place from April 14 through 
April 18, 2003; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, hereby join the members of Bishop Lee's 
denomination in commending him for his fervent service to the 
church, his fellowman, and the community; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
