SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 412
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Community Services Agency of South Texas, Incorporated, for its outstanding work in improving the quality of life for the people of South Texas; and WHEREAS, Incorporated in April of 1965, the organization is one of the Community Action Agencies established across the nation through the Economic Opportunity Act passed by the United States Congress in 1964; and WHEREAS, The Community Services Agency of South Texas, Incorporated, is a partnership of local elected officials, community and civic organizations, and representatives of the poor; it is a private, nonprofit corporation with an 18-member board of directors; and WHEREAS, A staff of approximately 200 dedicated and knowledgeable employees provides vital educational and social services to residents of Dimmit, LaSalle, Maverick, Zavala, Uvalde, Val Verde, Kinney, Real, Edwards, and Frio counties; and WHEREAS, The many services provided by the agency include Head Start and preschool educational services, family support centers, weatherization and energy conservation, energy and utility assistance, the Boot Strap home rehabilitation program for the colonias, and Meals on Wheels; the agency also operates elderly rental housing projects in Pearsall and Asherton; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend the Community Services Agency of South Texas, Incorporated, for its invaluable work on behalf of the citizens of our state and extend best wishes for the future to all associated with this fine organization; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the agency as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
