SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 435
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Honorable Frank D. Jackson for his outstanding
contributions to the City of Prairie View; and
WHEREAS, A 1973 graduate of Prairie View A&M University,
Mayor Jackson is well known for his leadership in the civic
affairs of his community; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated and active volunteer, Mayor Jackson
has served as president and fire chief of the Prairie View
Volunteer Fire Fighting Association, Incorporated; he is past
master of Lone Star Lodge 85 in Hempstead and currently serves
as the grand historian for the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand
Lodge of Texas; and
WHEREAS, A capable and inspirational community leader,
Mayor Jackson served on the Prairie View City Council for
12 years and as a commissioner for Waller County for eight years;
he was elected mayor of the City of Prairie View in May of 2002;
and
WHEREAS, He is a longtime employee of Prairie View A&M
University, where he has held a number of student affairs
positions; he was assistant director of University Centers and
director of Student Initiatives and Development; he currently
serves as special assistant to the president for governmental
affairs; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Jackson is an exemplary gentleman who is
highly respected by his community, and he deserves recognition
for his exceptional accomplishments and his many contributions
to the citizens of Prairie View; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Frank D. Jackson for his
exceptional achievements on behalf of his community and extend
best wishes to him for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
