SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 452
In Memory
of
Alfred R. Aguirre
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Alfred R. Aguirre, who died March 2, 2003,
at the age of 68; and
WHEREAS, Alfred was born in San Marcos on July 29, 1934,
to Fred and Mary Aguirre; and
WHEREAS, He received a bachelor's degree from
Southwest Texas State University and a master's degree from
the University of the Incarnate Word; and
WHEREAS, Alfred was dedicated to his work as a teacher
of chemistry for 36 years; he taught at Randolph High School and
at Judson High School; he also offered classes in photography at
San Antonio College for 16 years; and
WHEREAS, A leader in public education, Alfred served as
department chairman at Randolph and Judson high schools, as
president of the Judson Teachers Association, and as state
president of the Texas State Science Teachers Association; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
and
WHEREAS, Alfred was a devoted husband, son, and uncle, and
he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Alfred R. Aguirre: his wife, Lila Aguirre;
his mother, Mary Aguirre; his sister-in-law, Henrietta Fernandez
and her husband, Edward; his brother-in-law, Robert Gamez and his
wife, Lillie; and his many other beloved relatives; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Alfred R. Aguirre.
