SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 464
In Memory
of
Joseph Michael Cullinan
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of San Antonio in mourning the death of Joseph Michael Cullinan,
who died February 2, 2003, at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, Joe Mike was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised
and educated in Laredo and San Antonio; he received a bachelor's
degree from Texas A&M University in 1949; and
WHEREAS, A true patriot, he served his country as a member
of the United States Marine Corps in World War II and in Korea,
and he achieved the rank of major; and
WHEREAS, In 1973, Joe Mike entered the real estate business
in San Antonio and was active with numerous professional
organizations, including the San Antonio Board of Realtors, the
Texas Association of Realtors, the Realtors Land Institute, and
the American Land Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Joe Mike received numerous accolades for his work
as a farm and land broker; he earned the prestigious Lifetime
Distinguished Service Award, and he was inducted into the
National Association of Realtors and the Omega Tau Rho honorary
fraternity in recognition of his leadership and contributions;
and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Joe Mike gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, A devoted father and grandfather, Joe Mike leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Joseph Michael Cullinan: his wife,
Melita K. Cullinan; his sons, Michael, Joe, and John; his
daughters, Melita, Ann Michele, and Christina; his grandchildren,
Lauren and David, Sean and Carolyn, Heather and Anthony, and
Samara, Aimee, Nathan, Sara, and Chris; and his five
great-grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Joseph Michael Cullinan.
