SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 472
In Memory
of
Olivia R. Acevedo
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Olivia R. Acevedo, who died March 12, 2003, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, Olivia Acevedo gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, Olivia was a devout Christian who was respected in the community for her accomplishments and was noted for her friendly nature; and WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Olivia R. Acevedo: her husband of 56 years, Ernesto Acevedo, Sr.; her daughters and their husbands, Elda and Guillermo De La Garza, Olinda and Johnny Cisneros, Gracie and Tony Esquivel, Ana Belia and Roy Franco; her sons and their wives, Ernesto Acevedo, Jr., and Diana, Hector and Sherri Acevedo, and Oscar Acevedo; her 26 grandchildren and her nine great-grandchildren; her brothers, Beto Ruiz, Omar Ruiz, and Osiel Ruiz; and her sisters, Eldita Santos, Nelly Mascarenas, Belia Maldonado, and Adalia Chapa; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Olivia R. Acevedo.
