SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 491
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Dallas in congratulating Phillip Harrison of Boy
Scout Troop 906, who recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout,
a rank achieved by only two out of every 100 boys in the program;
and
WHEREAS, This fine young man displayed outstanding
leadership through the planning and execution of a service
project which has benefited his community; Phillip planned,
installed, and maintained a shrub and flower bed at New Birth
Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Phillip advanced through the ranks of Tenderfoot,
Second, First, Star, and Life classes before reaching the rank of
Eagle Scout by following the principles of the Scout oath and
promise; and
WHEREAS, He served as a merit badge instructor at Camp
James Ray for two summers, and he will serve as the handicraft
director at the camp this summer; and
WHEREAS, By becoming an Eagle Scout, this personable young
man has brought great distinction to himself, his family, his
troop, his community, and his state; and
WHEREAS, Phillip is an exceptional representative of the
State of Texas and a sterling example to all who have the good
fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Phillip Harrison for earning
the rank of Eagle Scout and congratulate him on his achievement;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Eagle Scout Harrison as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
