SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 510

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize members of the Farmers Branch Youth Leadership Class of 
2003 and welcome them to the State Capitol on April 9, 2003; and
	WHEREAS, Twenty-six juniors from R. L. Turner High School 
in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District 
were selected to participate in the Farmers Branch Youth 
Leadership program, which is sponsored by the Farmers Branch 
Chamber of Commerce; and
	WHEREAS, The year-long program represents the chamber's 
commitment to unite the business community and its citizens, 
foster leadership training, and expand opportunities for young 
people; students participate in community service projects and 
meet with community leaders to discuss key social and economic 
issues that affect their school and community; and
	WHEREAS, The goal of the Farmers Branch Youth Leadership 
program is to build leaders for today's world and that of 
tomorrow and inspire students to develop the three core values of 
character, competence, and compassion; while in Austin, students 
will learn about school finance, open container laws, lobbying, 
and public service; and
	WHEREAS, The students in the Farmers Branch Youth 
Leadership program are exemplary young people and responsible 
citizens who are broadening their perspective and knowledge 
through their involvement in this excellent training program; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend the students and the sponsors
of the Farmers Branch Youth Leadership program for their active 
participation in planning for a brighter and productive future; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
