SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 515
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay tribute to Coralia Cuellar Schotz on the grand occasion of her 102nd birthday; and WHEREAS, This distinguished lady was born on March 25, 1901, in San Salvador, El Salvador; she married Henry Hans Schotz, a young German mining engineer, on April 23, 1923, in the mining town of Parral, in Northern Mexico; and WHEREAS, Cora traveled extensively during her husband's long career with the American Smelting and Refining Corporation, and the couple was blessed with eight children, Henry, Anna, Albert, Richard, Katherine, William, Helen, and Charles; she is also the proud grandmother of Stephanie Katherine Schotz, Mark Freeman Schotz, and Carl Celis; and WHEREAS, Cora became a widow in 1944 as a result of her husband's accidental death, and two years later, she moved with her family to Austin, where she continues to live; she became a naturalized American citizen in 1952 with the support, assistance, and inspiration of her close friend and neighbor, Dorothy Kerbow; and WHEREAS, A respected member of her community, Cora has a strong spiritual faith in God, which is a source of strength to her as she continues to live each day to the fullest, surrounded by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby recognize Coralia Cuellar Schotz as a treasured citizen of Austin and the State of Texas and extend best wishes to her on her 102nd birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as a memento of this special day.
