SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 516
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Black Nurses Association of Greater Houston,
Incorporated, on the occasion of its annual Nurses Workshop
at the Cuney Homes Community Center on April 26, 2003; and
WHEREAS, The Black Nurses Association of Greater Houston,
Incorporated, was established in 1978 under the leadership of
Eunice Pointer; and
WHEREAS, The theme of the 2003 workshop is "Health Care
Providers and Members of the Community--Learning Together";
the event will focus on community health issues and community
awareness; among the topics to be covered are stress, Hepatitis
C, and the role of the religious leader; and
WHEREAS, Individuals participating in the workshop include
residents of Cuney Homes, nurses, barbers, nail technicians,
hair stylists, student nurses, and community advocates; and
WHEREAS, The workshop will provide nurses and other
professionals with new insights and vital medical information
that will help them perform their work with greater proficiency;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend the Black Nurses Association of
Greater Houston, Incorporated, for their consistent dedication
to protecting the health of the community and extend best wishes
for a successful workshop; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
