SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 618
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
tribute to Ernestine Gillespie Holt on the grand occasion of her
80th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Ernestine was born on May 4, 1923; this exemplary
lady is well known for her charm and generosity of spirit and
is a revered resident of Houston; and
WHEREAS, She attends Homestead Missionary Baptist Church,
where she is the church mother and president of the Women's
Missionary Union; she is also a deaconess, choir member, and
Sunday school officer; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her church work, Ernestine sits
with elderly people and helps care for her ailing sister; she
sews, does her own yard work, and is actively involved in her
civic club; and
WHEREAS, A respected member of her community, Ernestine
is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, and her
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby recognize Ernestine Gillespie Holt
as a treasured citizen of Houston and the State of Texas and
extend best wishes to her for a joyful birthday celebration; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this special day.
