SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 634

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Champions of Texas BBQ Cookoff at Austin ParksFest 
as the Texas State BBQ Championship competition; and

	WHEREAS, Sponsored by the nationally recognized H-E-B
Grocery Company, the Champions of Texas BBQ Cookoff at
Austin ParksFest will be held in beautiful Austin, Texas, on
April 26, 2003; and

	WHEREAS, Austin ParksFest began in 2002 and includes a 
kids' carnival, the Earth Day 5K, Kids K and Expo, the Capital
2K Open Water Race, and nationally renowned Austin live music,
as well as the barbeque cookoff that is sanctioned by the 
International Barbeque Cookers Association; and

	WHEREAS, Austin ParksFest, a two-day festival highlighted 
by the Cookoff, is expected to attract 30,000 visitors to Austin 
this year; and

	WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbeque,
and over the years, the Texas BBQ Cookoff cooks have provided 
superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of
palates; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby declare the Champions of Texas BBQ 
Cookoff the Texas State BBQ Championship competition; and,
be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
this special occasion as an expression of high regard from the 
Texas Senate.
