SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 650
In Memory
of
Lunita Johnson White
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Alta Mesa, Wilmer, and Hutchins, in southern Dallas County, in mourning the loss of Lunita Johnson White, who died April 16, 2003; and WHEREAS, Mrs. White was a highly respected leader in the Alta Mesa community for over 40 years and was noted for her struggle for social and community causes and her dedication to public service; she was retired from the Texas Lottery; and WHEREAS, She had been active in educational issues since joining the Parent-Teacher Organization when her children were in school and was a member of the Wilmer-Hutchins Independent School District Board of Education for over 22 years; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. White was a cofounder of New Life Missionary Baptist Church and devoted her life to upholding three important institutions--home, church, and education; and WHEREAS, In May of 2002, Mrs. White was honored by New Life Missionary Baptist Church for her dedicated service to the field of education and her many accomplishments in the community; the church proclaimed May 19, 2002, "Lunita White Day"; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, Mrs. White gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, Lunita White lived her life to the fullest and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of Lunita Johnson White: her husband, Preston White; her children, Rodney, Tony, James, Kirk, Tonya, Darance, and Danzavier; and her 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lunita Johnson White.
