SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 651
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Kirk Dressendorfer, who was inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Honor in November, 2002, and into the Pearland Baseball Hall of Honor in February, 2003; and WHEREAS, Kirk played baseball for the Longhorns at The University of Texas at Austin from 1988 through 1990; during his excellent college baseball career, he enjoyed 45 career wins; he and his teammates also won Longhorn Coach Cliff Gustafson's 1,000th game, and he was proud to have never lost a game to Texas A&M University, the University of Oklahoma, or the University of Arkansas; and WHEREAS, In recognition of his talent and accomplishments, Kirk was three times selected All-Southwest Conference and All-American; in 1988, he was chosen Newcomer of the Year as well as Player of the Year for the Southwest Conference; and WHEREAS, In 1990, he was a first-round draft choice by a professional league and became one of three players to ever win their first professional game; and WHEREAS, A first-rate baseball player, Kirk demonstrated awesome pitching skills and great sportsmanship as a member of The University of Texas Longhorn team; and WHEREAS, Kirk is devoted to his family and has been married to his wife, Sarah, for eight years; the couple has been blessed with three children, Jack, Josie, and David Dressendorfer; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend Kirk Dressendorfer for his superior athletic accomplishments and congratulate him on his induction into the Longhorn Hall of Honor and the Pearland Baseball Hall of Honor; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
