SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 654
In Memory
of
Loretta Cantu Campbell
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of San Antonio and Comal County in mourning the loss of
Loretta Cantu Campbell, who died March 28, 2003, at the age of 51;
and
WHEREAS, Loretta earned a bachelor's degree from
The University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in early
childhood education from The University of Texas at San Antonio;
and
WHEREAS, She enjoyed a happy marriage to Wallace Campbell
for nearly 27 years, and the couple raised two children, Marissa
and Enrique; and
WHEREAS, Loretta taught kindergarten, her favorite grade,
at the Henry T. Brauchle Elementary School in the Northside
Independent School District, and she had been dedicated to her
work as a schoolteacher for 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Well known for her beautiful spirit, Loretta
taught her young students to share, to be kind, and to play well
with others; and
WHEREAS, Loretta had a gift for molding and positively
influencing her students' lives; and
WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Loretta gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom,
warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
knew her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Loretta Cantu Campbell; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Loretta Cantu Campbell.
