SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 673
In Memory
of
Dr. Raul C. Villafaña
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Dr. Raul C. Villafaña, who died April 11, 2003, at the age of 82; and WHEREAS, Raul Villafaña was born February 2, 1921, in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Jesus Villafaña and Andrea Fuentes de Villafaña; he attended the Escuela de Bachilleres and the Escuela de Medicina at the Universidad de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey; he served his internship at Saint Luke's Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan, and completed his residency in pathology at Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio, where he also had a 33-year private practice in family medicine; and WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, Dr. Villafaña gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, Raul Villafaña was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Raul C. Villafaña: his wife of 46 years, Dr. Aurora P. Villafaña; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Richard Villafaña, Raul and Vicky Villafaña, and Luis and Felicia Villafaña; his daughter and son-in-law, Lizabeth and Andrew Karaganis; his sisters, Eva Aguirre, Guadalupe Villafaña, Dalila Arguello, Minerva Ortiz, and Irma Soto; and his five grandchildren; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Raul C. Villafaña.
