SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 686
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join the citizens of the City of Diana in recognizing May 4, 2003,
as Robert F. Hunt Day; and
WHEREAS, On that day, the New Diana Elementary School
will be renamed for Principal Robert F. Hunt, whose work in the
education of children spans 36 years and includes 25 years of
outstanding service with the New Diana Independent School
District; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Hunt was born in Hallsville, Texas, where
he attended public schools; he earned a bachelor's degree and a
master's degree from Baylor University and began his career in
education in 1967 with West Rusk Consolidated Independent School
District; he and his wife, Delores, have three children and
attend First Baptist Church in Hallsville; and
WHEREAS, Throughout Mr. Hunt's career, he has been dedicated
to his work with the children under his guidance and has often gone
far beyond the call of duty; and
WHEREAS, From building fences to sitting in emergency rooms
with his students, he has been a devoted and caring educator and
an excellent role model for the many young people who look up to
him; and
WHEREAS, A hardworking and resourceful administrator who
is highly respected for his wisdom and skills, Bobby Hunt has
played a major role in making the New Diana Elementary School the
excellent educational facility it is today; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Robert F. Hunt for his many
contributions to the educational system of Texas and the children
of our state and recognize May 4, 2003, as Robert F. Hunt Day in
Diana; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
