SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 693
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Earl Loggins on the occasion of the May 7, 2003, roast
and toast gala dinner, which is being held in his honor at
The Houston Club by the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Earl Loggins is the longtime chairman of the board
of directors of the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the chamber raises funds to provide
scholarships to deserving technical and vocational students;
the proceeds from the 2003 gala dinner will be used to create the
Earl and Margaret Loggins Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, Earl Loggins is well known and greatly respected
for his 44 years of devoted service as maitre d', director of
training, and host-at-large at The Houston Club; and
WHEREAS, A first-class employee, Earl genuinely cared
about The Houston Club's members, traditions, and staff, and he
always sought to elevate the club's standards; he was made a life
member of the club upon his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Former President George H. W. Bush has agreed to
be the honorary chairman of this occasion, and he will offer his
best wishes to Earl at the dinner; serving as cochairs of the
event will be Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and attorney
James Brill; and
WHEREAS, Earl Loggins deserves recognition for his
outstanding service to The Houston Club and to the Houston
Citizens Chamber of Commerce, and the gala dinner in his honor
is a fitting tribute; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Earl Loggins for his exceptional
leadership in the club and in the chamber of commerce and extend
best wishes to him on the occasion of the gala dinner in Houston;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
