SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 710
In Memory
of
Billie Nugent
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Marshall, Austin, and Kerrville in mourning the loss
of Billie Nugent, who died February 14, 2002, at the age of 81;
and
WHEREAS, Billie lived in Marshall for a number of years
and served as president of the South Marshall Elementary School
Parent Teacher Association and as president of the Marshall
Garden Club; and
WHEREAS, She also worked in Marshall as a model for Weisman's
Department Store, the city's largest store; and
WHEREAS, Billie was a friend to many, and she will be fondly
remembered for her beautiful smile and engaging personality; and
WHEREAS, She was known for her spirited nature and optimism,
and she lived each day to the fullest; and
WHEREAS, Billie was a woman of integrity, strength, and
generosity who gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her
wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those
who knew her; and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Billie was a member of Trinity
Episcopal Church and Saint Peter's Episcopal Church; she was
active for many years in the Altar Guild of both churches; and
WHEREAS, Billie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Billie Nugent: her husband, James E. Nugent;
her son, Cal Trammel; her daughter, Nan White; and other family
members; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Billie Nugent.
