SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 712
In Memory
of
Dr. Theodore Evans
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Sulphur Springs in mourning the loss of Dr. Theodore Evans,
who died April 15, 2003, at the age of 78; and
WHEREAS, Theodore Evans was born in Baskin, Louisiana,
on June 18, 1924, to Lee and Ola Lawrence Evans; he married
Barbara Browder in 1954, and the couple was blessed with two
children; and
WHEREAS, A true patriot, he served his country in the
United States Army Air Corps during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Evans graduated from Texas Chiropractic
College in 1948; he established his career as a chiropractor with
the founding of Weddle & Evans Chiropractic in Sulphur Springs,
where he became a resident in 1964; he also established the
Hopkins County Nursing Home in that city and the Whispering Pines
Nursing Home in Winnsboro; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Dr. Evans was a former
member of the Sulphur Springs Planning and Zoning Commission and
a former member of the Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Dr. Evans was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs and attended the
John Sharber Sunday School Class; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Evans was a devoted husband, father,
and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be
treasured forever by his family and many friends; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Dr. Theodore Evans: his wife, Barbara Browder
Evans; his son, Dr. Larry Evans; his daughter and son-in-law,
Linda and Mike Hodge; his grandchildren, Brooke and Blake Hodge;
and his brother, Dr. Jack Evans; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Dr. Theodore Evans.
