SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 722
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Rainbow Pawz "Fighting for K9 Cancer Awareness" dog walk, which takes place May 10, 2003, in Amarillo; and WHEREAS, Cancer is a major cause of death in dogs; it is therefore of vital importance that dog owners and veterinarians be aware of the best treatment methods available; and WHEREAS, Dogs form strong and irreplaceable bonds with their human families; organizations such as the Veterinary Cancer Society and the Morris Animal Foundation strive to enhance that bond through scientific studies that can advance veterinary medicine and provide every dog the opportunity for a long, healthy life; and WHEREAS, The Rainbow Pawz "Fighting K9 Cancer Awareness" dog walk will bring together dog owners, the members of the veterinary community, and local residents of Amarillo to learn more about the ongoing efforts to treat cancer in dogs; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend Rainbow Pawz for its commitment to helping "man's best friend" overcome canine cancer and extend best wishes for a successful "Fighting K9 Cancer Awareness" dog walk; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for all those associated with the event as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
