SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 731
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize David Cole, who was recently honored as the Galena Park
Independent School District Student of the Month for March of
2003 by the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, David has achieved an exemplary academic record
at North Shore Senior High School, where he is in the top five
percent of his class; and
WHEREAS, This fine young scholar is a member of the Honor
Society and participates in the Math and Science Club and the
Texas Association of Future Educators; he also plays basketball;
and
WHEREAS, He is a finalist in the National Achievement
Scholarship Program, an awards program for outstanding
African American students; and
WHEREAS, David looks forward to his studies at
The University of Texas at Austin, where he will pursue a
major in advertising; and
WHEREAS, A role model for his peers, David is a source of
pride to his family, his high school, and his community, and he
deserves recognition for his exceptional accomplishments; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend David Cole on his scholastic
achievements and congratulate him on his selection as the Galena
Park Independent School District Student of the Month; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
