SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 735
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Coulson Tough on the occasion of his retirement as senior vice president of Commercial/Industrial Design and Construction at The Woodlands Operating Company, Limited Partnership, on May 5, 2003; and WHEREAS, Coulson Tough joined The Woodlands Operating Company in 1973 and held several positions in building design and construction before assuming the position of senior vice president; and WHEREAS, Mr. Tough has been responsible for new and renovation design and construction projects for more than 1.5 million square feet of commercial space and more than 1,000 apartments in The Woodlands; he has also been involved in the design development of the Tournament of Players Clubhouse and the 10,000-seat Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, a center for the performing arts; and WHEREAS, He has been responsible for the renovation of The Woodlands Executive Conference Center and seven historic buildings in downtown Galveston; other projects he developed include the 244-room San Luis Hotel and the San Luis Condominiums; and WHEREAS, Coulson Tough is a native of Detroit and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in architecture; before joining The Woodlands Operating Company, he served for five years as vice president of Facilities, Planning, and Operations at the University of Houston; and WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who has distinguished himself in his career, Coulson Tough is admired and respected by his colleagues in his field, and his presence at The Woodlands Operating Company will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby congratulate Coulson Tough on his successful career and his many accomplishments and extend best wishes to him for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
