SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 739

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the members of The Moving Wall of Allen, Incorporated, 
and proud to honor the men and women of the armed forces of the 
United States who served in the Vietnam War; and
	WHEREAS, The Moving Wall of Allen, Incorporated, is 
a nonprofit organization of United States military veterans 
who are bringing The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the 
Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., to Allen, Texas, 
from May 24 through May 30, 2003; and
	WHEREAS, The Moving Wall has been touring the country 
for almost 20 years, allowing individuals who cannot visit the 
Vietnam Veterans Memorial to share the experience of that 
memorial; and
	WHEREAS, The event is cosponsored by the City of Allen 
and Armistice Memorial Post 2195 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 
along with other organizations, businesses, and individuals; 
opening day ceremonies for the exhibit are being held at Bethany 
Lakes Park on May 24; and
	WHEREAS, The presence of The Moving Wall in Allen gives 
the residents of the city an opportunity to experience the power 
of the memorial and to remember the thousands of brave men and 
women who served in the Vietnam War and the many sacrifices these 
Americans made for their country; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, hereby recognize The Moving Wall as a valuable 
tribute to the many sons and daughters of America fallen and missing;
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the residents of Allen as they reflect on the heroism that this 
memorial conveys.
