SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 742
WHEREAS, March 26, 2003, marked the 75th anniversary of the
Farmers Insurance Group of Companies, and this notable milestone
is indeed deserving of special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Founded by Thomas E. Leavey and John C. Tyler in
1928, Farmers Insurance has grown to become the third-largest
home and auto insurer in the United States, currently providing
coverage for more than 15 million customers; and
WHEREAS, Committed to supporting the communities it
serves, the company has founded a volunteer program, Partners
in Pride, which brings employees, district managers, and agents
together to walk for the March of Dimes, build homes for Habitat
for Humanity, and tutor children; and
WHEREAS, In 2002, Farmers Insurance contributed
$3.5 million to nonprofit and safety organizations across the
country; dedicated employees raised an additional $1.5 million
on their own initiative, in addition to donating many thousands
of volunteer hours to charitable and other worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, Since the opening of the Farmers Insurance facility
in Round Rock in 1986, members of that office have been a valued
asset to their city and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, For seven and a half decades, Farmers Insurance
has provided customers with exemplary service and has been
dedicated to improving communities where its patrons and
employees live and work; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby congratulate all those associated
with the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies on their firm's
75th anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued success in the years ahead; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this occasion.
