SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 744
In Memory
of
Anthony Scott Miller
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the tragic loss of Anthony Scott Miller, who died April 7, 2003, at the age of 19; and WHEREAS, Private First Class Anthony Miller was born in San Antonio on July 6, 1983; he graduated from John Jay High School in 2001 and joined the United States Army to seek educational opportunities and to learn new skills; he was based in Fort Stewart in Georgia with the 3rd Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade; a soldier who maintained vehicles for the Army, he was deployed to Kuwait in October of 2002; and WHEREAS, Anthony Miller gave his life in the service of his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom; killed by enemy fire in Iraq, he was a patriotic American and a soldier of courage; and WHEREAS, Known for his tranquil and happy nature, Anthony was noted for his knack for cheering others up, for his enjoyment of the latest rock 'n roll music on his ever present earphones, and for his love of drawing; and WHEREAS, A fine young man of integrity, strength, and generosity, Anthony gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom and warmth will not be forgotten by those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Anthony Scott Miller: his mother, Maria T. Saldivar; his father, Patrick Miller, Sr.; his brother, Patrick Miller, Jr.; his sister, Susan Saldaña; his grandmother, Faustina Saldivar; and many other beloved family members; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Private First Class Anthony Scott Miller.
