SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 755
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to congratulate Wendy Mohr on earning the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce Miss Anna Hackett Award for her outstanding work as a teacher in the Weatherford Independent School District; and WHEREAS, An eighth-grade and ninth-grade mathematics and algebra teacher at Tison Junior High School in Weatherford, Wendy Mohr became a teacher after 17 years as a mechanical engineer; and WHEREAS, Although Wendy loved mathematics as a child and began preparing for a career in math education, she switched to mechanical engineering while in college, anticipating that a career in that field would bring her more happiness than pursuing her original dream; and WHEREAS, She earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and a master's degree in business administration from DePaul University; after serving as a mechanical engineer and enjoying her service as a trainer of assembly line workers, she realized her true mission in life was to teach; and WHEREAS, She served as a substitute teacher for a year before obtaining a position at Tison Junior High School in 1999, and she earned her Texas teaching certificate in May of 2000; Wendy focuses on providing a safe learning environment for her students and encourages her students to develop the skills they will need for success in the future; and WHEREAS, An exemplary teacher, Wendy Mohr inspires in her students a sense of pride and a lifelong love of learning, and her award reflects her dedication to excellence in teaching and brings honor to her school, the school district, and her community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend Wendy Mohr for winning the Miss Anna Hackett Award and extend best wishes to her for continued success and a productive teaching career; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
