SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 756
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Gregory Phillip Norwood on the grand occasion of his
50th birthday on May 13, 2003; and
WHEREAS, A gracious and charming gentleman, Gregory is
known for his warmth and generosity of spirit; and
WHEREAS, Gregory was born in Austin on May 13, 1953, to
Alva and David Norwood; he grew up in Austin and graduated from
Sidney Lanier High School in 1972; and
WHEREAS, After completing sheet metal apprenticeship
school, Gregory worked in the sheet metal industry until
April of 2001; he joined the staff of the Texas Senate in
May of 2001 as an employee in the post office; and
WHEREAS, During his leisure time, he enjoys restoring
classic cars and watching NASCAR racing events; and
WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Gregory has been
happily married to his true love, Nelda Harmon Norwood,
for nearly 28 years; the couple has been blessed with two
daughters in whom they take great pride, Darla René Norwood
and Lisa Marie Norwood Haley; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who enjoys a fruitful
life, Gregory is known for his enthusiasm for living each day
to the fullest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby recognize Gregory Phillip Norwood as
a treasured citizen of Austin and the State of Texas and extend
best wishes to him for a joyful 50th birthday; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as a memento of this special day.
