SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 757
In Memory
of
Rush Truett Turner
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Master Sergeant
Rush Truett Turner, who died April 19, 2003, at the age of 78;
and
WHEREAS, Rush Turner was born in Paris, Texas, on
February 14, 1925, to Andrew Rush and Emma Wilson Turner;
he married Margaret Sullivan on March 19, 1949; the couple
traveled extensively during their 54 years of marriage; they
became residents of Austin in 1968; and
WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Turner served his country with
distinction for 28 years in the United States Air Force and was
a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict, and the Vietnam
War; and
WHEREAS, After he retired from the military, he worked
as an investigator and jury consultant in the Austin law office
of his son, Joe Turner; throughout his life, Mr. Turner had an
abiding passion for baseball, and he was an award-winning
softball pitcher during his tenure with the Air Force; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Mr. Turner was widely
admired and respected in the community for his integrity,
honesty, and intellectual curiosity; he was happiest when
socializing with his family and friends and dancing to his
favorite country music; his love of life, his wisdom, and his
valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Rush Turner lived his life to the fullest and was
a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind
memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Rush Truett Turner: his wife, Margaret Turner;
his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathryn Turner, Joseph and
Deena Turner, and Peter Turner; his daughters and son-in-law,
Sally Turner Olson, Sheila K. Turner, and Colleen and Bobby Limbocker;
his sisters, Jarrell Norrell and Glenna Ford; his brother,
Andrew Turner; and his ten grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Rush Truett Turner.
