SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 788
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Roy Stewart, who is being recognized on May 23, 2003, 
with the first Distinguished Friend award given by the 
Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation; and
	WHEREAS, Roy holds bachelor's and master's degrees                             

from Texas Christian University, and he works in residential 
and commercial construction, consulting, and real estate 
investments; and
	WHEREAS, A strong believer in the value of education, Roy 
has worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of education in the 
Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District and give 
students the opportunity to become contributing citizens in our 
society; he served on the board of education from 1984 through 
1993 and established the Grapevine-Colleyville Education 
Foundation in 1998; and
	WHEREAS, Roy gives unselfishly of his time, talent, and 
resources to the community; in addition to his service with the 
foundation, he is a member of the Grapevine City Council, the 
Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, the American Business Club, and 
the Grapevine Rotary Club; he serves on the boards of directors 
of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation and the 
Northeast Leadership Forum; and
	WHEREAS, At the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School 
District Academic Recognition Banquet he will be honored for his 
lasting contributions in support of education in the community; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, hereby commend Roy Stewart for his many 
accomplishments and congratulate him on his selection as the 
first recipient of the Distinguished Friend award from the 
Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
