SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 829
WHEREAS, Juan and Eva Rodriguez, two longtime residents of
Edinburg, are in the midst of their 64th year of marriage and
their enduring union is truly worthy of special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Juan Jose Rodriguez and the former Eva Cervantes
were united in matrimony on December 12, 1939, at a ceremony held
at La Victoria Catholic Church in Chamacuro, Guanajuato, Mexico,
not far from the family ranchitos where they both worked; three
years later, this hardworking and ambitious couple moved to
Edinburg, and over the years that followed they supported their
growing family by working in fields across the Rio Grande Valley;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez, who are proud citizens of
the United States of America, today own their own home and have
land around the Edinburg area; their fulfilment of the American
Dream is evident in the pride they take in the accomplishments
of their children, all of whom live with their families in
South Texas; and
WHEREAS, Since exchanging their vows more than six decades
ago, this couple has enjoyed an enduring relationship that has
grown in love and mutual respect in each passing year, and
Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez remain a source of delight and inspiration
to their close-knit family and to the friends with whom they have
shared the richness of their life together; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby congratulate Juan and Eva Rodriguez on
their more than six decades of marriage and extend to them
warmest best wishes for many more years of continued happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez as an expression of high
regard by the Texas Senate.
