SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 872
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Daleanor Willette Weaver, who will graduate in the
top 10 percent of her class at David W. Carter High School on
May 25, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Daleanor has achieved an impressive academic
record at David W. Carter High School; she has been a member
of the "A" and "B" Honor Roll, the National Honor Society, the
National Achievement Academy, the All American Scholar, and
the National Honor Roll; she has been listed in Who's Who Among
American High School Students and has been recognized by, and
invited to join, the United States Achievement Academy; and
WHEREAS, She has been active in numerous extracurricular
activities, such as the orchestra, for which she has served as a
section leader and first chair percussionist in the concert and
symphonic band; she qualified as a state finalist in the Snare
Drum Solo Competition this year, and she served as the drum major
for the school's 2002-2003 marching band; in addition, she is a
member of the Concert and Gospel Choir and the Choir Council; and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Daleanor is a member of
Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, where she participates in
the Saint John Youth Fellowship and the Pneuma Praise Dancers;
and
WHEREAS, Daleanor participates in a number of civic
associations, including the South Central Chapter of the
National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's
Clubs, Incorporated, and the Alpha Rho Chapter of the National
Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, This fine young woman looks forward to studying
science at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she
has been awarded a full band scholarship and a full academic
scholarship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Daleanor Willette Weaver for
her exceptional accomplishments and for graduating in the top
10 percent of her class and extend best wishes to her for a
successful and happy future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
