SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 891
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Mark W. Smith as an outstanding citizen of his community and state; and WHEREAS, Mark earned a bachelor's degree from Baylor University and a master's degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Mark is currently the manager for Government Relations for Motorola, Incorporated; he previously served in the Texas House of Representatives as a Natural Resources special assistant, working with Speaker Pete Laney on public policy and programs; he also served as the chief committee clerk for the Environmental Affairs Committee; and WHEREAS, Formerly a Special Projects coordinator for the Texas Air Control Board, Mark has facilitated and directed, or assisted with, a host of projects in water planning, natural resources and environmental quality, and federal and state legislation; and WHEREAS, He has served as a member of the Lower Colorado Regional Water Planning Group, the Texas Association of Business and Chambers of Commerce, and the Texas Chapter of the American Electronics Association; and WHEREAS, Mark Smith has also given of his time, energy, and talented leadership to the 2001 Texas Donate-a-Phone Campaign, the International Student Exchange program, the Central Texas Clean Air Force, and Hill Country Bible Church; a devoted family man, he shares as much of his time as he can with his wife, Jennifer, and his two children, Chloe and Collin; and WHEREAS, On April 10, 2003, his many friends and admirers held a dinner in his honor and recognized him for the countless ways that he has contributed to the betterment of the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby proclaim Mark W. Smith a treasured citizen of our state and extend best wishes to him for his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
