SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 909

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Estella Reyes Naranjo for her great contributions to 
the education of the children of San Antonio; and
	WHEREAS, Estella Naranjo has recently been recognized by 
the San Antonio Guadalupe Community Center for her 50 years of 
unselfish service to the City of San Antonio, the State of Texas, 
and the International Good Neighbor Council; and
	WHEREAS, She earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&I 
University in Kingsville and has taught for 40 years in public 
schools and for another 10 years in Catholic schools; through 
her dedicated classroom service, she has brought a positive 
influence to the lives of thousands of young Texans; and
	WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Estella has served as the 
president of the Pan American League; during her tenure, the 
league donated more than $1 million for a center to assist 
residents of the inner city of San Antonio and contributed over 
$250,000 for scholarships coordinated by The University of Texas 
at San Antonio; she has also served as president of the Wolf Trail 
Children's Camp; and
	WHEREAS, Estella has been honored with an Outstanding 
Service Award for her dedication and hard work in the public 
school system and has received a Leadership Award for her many 
contributions to the Catholic school system; she has also been 
honored by the International Good Neighbor Council for promoting 
"the Principles of Goodneighborliness" between Mexico and the 
United States; and
	WHEREAS, Estella has been an inspiration to many in the 
community, and her accomplishments reflect her commitment to her 
fellowman; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, hereby commend Estella Reyes Naranjo for her 
outstanding contributions as a teacher and community leader and 
extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
