SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 917
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the audiologists and speech-language pathologists of 
Texas and to declare the month of May of 2003 as Better Hearing 
and Speech Month; and
	WHEREAS, Citizens throughout Texas value the dedicated 
efforts of audiologists and speech-language pathologists to 
eliminate or minimize the isolating effects of communication 
disorders that affect one in every ten families in our state; and
	WHEREAS, These highly trained health care providers have 
worked diligently to enable many citizens in our state to 
overcome communication disabilities; and
	WHEREAS, Audiologists and speech-language pathologists
throughout our nation have empowered individuals with 
communication disorders to lead independent, productive,
and fulfilling lives; and
	WHEREAS, Texas takes great pride in our more than 10,000 
audiologists and speech-language pathologists who offer 
education and highly professional health care services to our 
citizenry; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend audiologists and speech-language
pathologists for improving the quality of life of people with 
communication disorders and join all our citizens in recognizing 
these outstanding health care providers during the month of May; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in 
observance of this special month.
