SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 934
In Memory
of
Lilia Caballero de Cavazos
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of Lilia Caballero de Cavazos, who died May 5, 2003, at the age of 91; and WHEREAS, Born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, on December 12, 1911, Lilia was reared in Torreon, Mexico, until the age of 13, when she moved with her family to Laredo; and WHEREAS, A talented artist and musician, Mrs. Cavazos was well known for her kindness and her compassion for others; she was active in parent-teacher associations and widely respected for her leadership and her many accomplishments in the community; and WHEREAS, A source of spiritual guidance and comfort to others, Mrs. Cavazos was a devout Catholic and a pillar in the parish of Christ the King Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength and generosity, Mrs. Cavazos gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Lilia Caballero de Cavazos; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lilia Caballero de Cavazos.
