SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 935
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Will Osborne, who won the University Interscholastic League Class 4A State Golf Tournament on May 6, 2003; and WHEREAS, Playing at the Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin, Will had pars on the first six holes before getting a birdie on the 414-yard, par-4 seventh hole; he then picked up two more pars to make the turn at 1-under; he started the back nine with a birdie on the 10th hole, followed by a string of five more pars before getting a birdie on the 16th hole, a par on the 17th hole, and the victory-clinching birdie on the 18th hole, and he finished one stroke ahead of his two opponents; and WHEREAS, A Wichita Falls High School junior, Will became the first golfer from Wichita Falls to win the University Interscholastic League state golf championship; and WHEREAS, Will Osborne played with determination and displayed great talent and perseverance throughout the tournament; he has brought credit to himself, his high school, and the City of Wichita Falls, and he deserves recognition for his exceptional accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend Will Osborne for his superior skills as a golfer and extend congratulations to him on his state championship victory in the University Interscholastic League Class 4A State Golf Tournament; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
