SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 941
In Memory
of
Jo Chambers Marti
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Cleburne in mourning the loss of Jo Chambers Marti, who died May 7, 2003, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, Jo Chambers was born September 20, 1924, in Everman; she graduated from Everman High School and attended Texas State College for Women; and WHEREAS, She was a civilian employee for the military during World War II; on December 11, 1944, she married George W. Marti, and the couple was blessed with children and grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Jo Marti was a rancher; she also helped to establish radio station KCLE, Marti Electronics, Incorporated, and the Marti Charolais business; and WHEREAS, Respected for her accomplishments and her leadership in the community, Jo was a member of the Cleburne Garden Club, the Amores Librorum Book Club, the local Parent Teacher associations, the Johnson County Charolais Association, and the Carnegie Players of Greater Cleburne; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, Jo gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, Jo Marti lived her life to the fullest and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Jo Chambers Marti: her husband, George W. Marti; her daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Carroll Lilly, Michelle Marti, and Larry Schmidt; her son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Gloria Marti; her nine grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Chambers; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jo Chambers Marti.
