SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 957
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize James V. "Jim" Woodrick on the occasion of his
retirement as president of Texas Chemical Council; and
WHEREAS, Jim Woodrick is the only person ever to serve as
both board chairman and president of Texas Chemical Council and
the Association of Chemical Industry of Texas; and
WHEREAS, A native of Bellville, he graduated from Bellville
High School in 1961 and earned a bachelor's degree and a master's
degree in chemical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin;
and
WHEREAS, Jim began a 28-year career at E.I. du Pont de
Nemours and Company in 1966 at the Victoria facility as a process
engineer; after spending six years at Cape Fear, North Carolina,
and Wilmington, Delaware, he returned to Victoria as operations
manager; and
WHEREAS, He later became plant manager of DuPont's
Chocolate Bayou Works in Alvin, manager of regional services in
Kingwood, and plant manager of Sabine River Works in Orange; and
WHEREAS, A leader in the chemical industry, Jim served as
board chairman for the Texas Chemical Council in 1992 and 1993
and the Association of Chemical Industry of Texas from 1990 to
1991; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend James V. Woodrick for his
many years of service and his exemplary leadership in the
chemical industry in the State of Texas and extend to him best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for Jim Woodrick as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
