SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 967
In Memory
of
Shelby Leo Green, Jr.
WHEREAS, Deputy Shelby Leo Green, Jr., of Tennessee Colony was killed in the line of duty on May 15, 2003, at the age of 39, and his untimely death is a profound loss; and WHEREAS, Deputy Green had a distinguished 10-year career with the Anderson County Sheriff's Department; for more than five years, he served as a member of the Dogwood Trails Narcotics Task Force, and at the time of his passing, he was working as a sheriff's investigator; earlier in his career, Deputy Green was employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the National Scientific Balloon Facility; and WHEREAS, Known as a man who was dedicated to his job, loved his family, and went the extra mile to do his job right, he was recognized for his exemplary efforts as an undercover narcotics agent with the Award of Valor from the Drug Enforcement Administration; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born in Conroe and lived in Anderson County for 23 years; he worked for the betterment of his community as a member of the board of trustees of the Cayuga Independent School District and as a member of the Tennessee Colony Volunteer Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Throughout his years on the force, Deputy Green established a record of meritorious service that is consistent with the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession, and his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Deputy Shelby Leo Green, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Evelyn Diane Green; to his children, Stephen, Scott, and Shelby Leo Green III; to his mother, Nellie Green; to his brothers, Carl and Randy Green; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Senate of the State of Texas adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Shelby Leo Green, Jr. Staples ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on May 26, 2003, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
