SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1003
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
tribute to Enrique "Henry" Trejo Chapa on the grand occasion of
his 50th birthday on June 10, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Henry was born June 10, 1953, in New Braunfels;
he was one of 11 children born to Juan and Juanita Chapa; he
graduated from New Braunfels High School, where he played middle
linebacker and tight end for the New Braunfels Unicorns; he then
served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1975; and
WHEREAS, After attending Austin Barber School, he received
his barber's license in 1977, and he has enjoyed cutting hair and
chatting with his customers for 26 years; he has also worked at
Applied Materials, Hill Country Dairies, and the Texas General
Services Commission; he recently received certification for an
eye screener position with Prevent Blindness of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Henry is a member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church
and an active volunteer in his community; he has served as head
coach for both the Manchaca All-Stars and the Cubs in the
Manchaca Youth Sports Complex Pinto League; he spends his leisure
time fishing and watching reruns of such television series as
"Archie Bunker" and "Friends"; and
WHEREAS, Henry is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather;
he married Socorro Martinez in 1974, and the couple has three
children, Deborah Ann, Michael Henry, and Steven Andrew Chapa,
and two grandchildren, Eric Chapa and Jason Luna; and
WHEREAS, In celebration of his birthday, friends and
family will gather at Matt's El Rancho Mexican Restaurant to
congratulate him and share in this milestone in his life; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby recognize Enrique Trejo Chapa as a
treasured citizen of Texas and extend to him best wishes for a
memorable 50th birthday celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as a memento of this special day.
