SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1043
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Linda K. Ahrens for her 24 years of outstanding service
in the field of education in Kerrville; and
WHEREAS, Linda is an eighth-grade United States history
teacher at Hal Peterson Middle School in the Kerrville
Independent School District, where she has taught for the last
21 years; she will be retiring next year; and
WHEREAS, Linda is noted for bringing history to life for
her students by including in her lessons the human interest
stories of the past, such as that of King Henry VIII and his six
wives; this year, her students' scores on the Texas Assessment of
Knowledge and Skills tests were higher than the state average in
social studies; and
WHEREAS, Linda is an exemplary teacher, and her students
greatly benefit from her skillful teaching methods, her sincere
concern for the individual, and her wise counsel and
encouragement; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, Linda
instills in her students an appreciation for hard work and a love
of challenge and learning; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Linda K. Ahrens for her many
contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend to
her best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
