HB21 by Corte (Relating to admission to and discharge from facilities for voluntary inpatient mental health services for persons younger than 18 years of age. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Sections 572.001 (a) and (c) in the Health and Safety Code to provide that a parent, guardian, or managing conservator may request admission of a minor of any age for inpatient mental health care.  The bill also provides the right to persons admitted under certain circumstances to be periodically evaluated by a physician on the need for continued inpatient treatment. Finally, the bill would require notification of a request for discharge made by these same patients.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
