FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 14, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kino Flores, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB306 by Denny (Relating to certain local option elections for certain cities located in more than one county.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 251, Alcoholic Beverage Code, to authorize an election to permit or prohibit the legal sale of beer and wine in a certain city located in more than one county. The city would be required to conduct and pay for the election. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

The City of Trophy Club is the only city to which the population criteria applies as set forth in the bill.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
