No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code to require a municipality that has a municipal housing authority in which the total number of units is more than 300 to appoint a tenant representative as a commissioner of the housing authority. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
Local Government Impact
Under current statute, commissioners of a municipal housing authority are not compensated for their service as a commissioner, but may receive reimbursement for expenses related to performing their housing authority duties. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
