IN RE:
HB431 by Van Arsdale (Relating to certain appointments to the boards of metropolitan rapid transit authorities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require for a metropolitan transportation authority having a principal municipality with a population of more than 1.2 million, that a panel composed of the commissioners court of the principal county and the governing body of the principal municipality would appoint one member of the authority. That member would serve as the presiding officer of the authority's board. The appointment would not occur until the first vacancy on the board following the effective date of the bill, which would be September 1, 2003.
Local Government Impact
Only minimal administrative costs would be involved in forming the required panel and making the appointment. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
